Get to know me a bit better

Get to know me a bit better

Why design?

I do feel that we’re all here with a purpose, a mission, and each step leads us towards achieving that. If we follow our intuition, we’ll get there. For me, I’ve always been attracted to design.

I remember being at a theme park aged 7 and my mum’s friend telling me that his job was to design baked bean packaging (he was a graphic designer), and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I’ve been wanting to do the same ever since. If it feels right, it probably is.

I want to work in the middle of psychology, how humans think, business, how we make something work, and design & how we make crazy cool, visually pleasing stuff.

My favourite part is getting into that flow state of intuition: solving a problem, having context and constraints, then exploring fully within that problem area. Doing quick, iterative rough designs, exploring lots of different options, playing, getting inspo from real life, always having a project in mind, linking things together and finding little bits of inspiration.

Where I think design is heading

I think humanness and imperfection will become the new value. As AI becomes more capable of producing polished designs, I see taste and discernment becoming even more important skills. Decision-making through intuition feels like a big part of this.

I think this could make more physical, messy and imperfect styles feel more valuable than minimalism and perfectly polished design.

For me, learning to use the latest AI tools is just part of developing as a designer, the tools will change, but the thought processes and feelings behind the work won’t disappear. I want to be equipped with the latest tools while still following what feels right, developing that instinct, experimenting, and figuring out what feels exciting and what still feels human!

What I want to explore next

I want to work alongside other people who really care about what they do, sharing ideas, thoughts and feelings about each other’s work, making people feel something, and reaching those “aha” moments together.

I want to keep doing new things, pushing things, experimenting and seeing what happens. I want to make work that has a positive impact, makes people feel something, adds beauty to the world, and hopefully helps other people fall in love with design too.

I feel like I have a good sense of when something looks and feels nice, but I want to get quicker at getting there, making more decisive decisions, being more experimental, more abstract and more confident with the process behind it. I love that feeling of “this looks really good” even when it seems a bit random. Learning how to get to that feeling more intentionally is what I want to delve into next.

What I'm looking for now

What I'm looking for now

Creative Exploration

I want to work hard and have fun, working in a very iterative and brainstormy way, exploring lots of different routes quickly before making something super nice and satisfying that feels right, then sending it out into the world.

Meaningful Impact

I want my work to feel meaningful and help people beyond me. Design is meant for good, and I want to do good through my work, helping people, creating change and making things that are seen and felt by lots of people.

Collaboration

I want to be part of an amazing creative team, working with inspiring and courageous people who love what they do and want to keep learning and teaching along the way. Somewhere we can inspire each other, push each other and do better together.

I believe that everything can be beautiful
